Meet Taylor! | ToYouSnacks Celebrates Eat Better- Eat Together Month
It's National Eat Better- Eat Together Month and we’re stepping up this year to celebrate and encourage others to participate! All month we are going around Orlando and interviewing people who we see inspiring and challenging one another to be the best versions of themselves in our Community. Next up on our list is Medical Aesthetician and Nursing Student, Taylor Towne! If you guys are like us and love plants, check her out on Instagram @tinyplantlady. She has inspired all of us here to add to our home gardens and for once, my plants have survived a month! So, lets get to know Taylor and learn how she eats better together!
Q: Hi Taylor, tell us a little bit about you!T: Hi! My name is Taylor Towne and I’m from Orlando, Florida. I’ve lived here for much of my 25 years of life and currently work as an Esthetician at Re:Fresh at Mosaic in Ivanhoe Village and Orchid Spa & Wellness in College Park. I’m inspired by people that are focused on making meaningful contributions to our environment and society and find myself giving all my energy to hobbies like - yoga, botany, nursing, and spending time with the great outdoors.Q: Growing up, what were meals like for you at home?T: People think I’m lying when I say that growing up I was never taught how to fend for myself. My parents never made my siblings and I breakfast and I was raised on cafeteria lunches. Not because they weren’t good parents but because my parents were always busy and never home due to their careers. I decided at 21 years old to take my health into my own hands and consciously make better activity and food choices after I found out I had hypothyroidism and the mutated gene for blood clotting.Q: What do meals look like for you now?T: I’m a pescatarian. I tried veganism but I don’t believe in cutting eggs, honey, or cricket flour out of my diet. I started adding in fish meat and my body has never felt better. My meals are whole foods, unprocessed, colorful, and require a lot of mindful chewing/slowed eating so it improves my digestion.Q: What do you think “Eating Better, Eating Together” means?T: It means eating with health & the community in mind. Shopping locally to support our farmers and suppliers and sharing your knowledge of what health is to give others the opportunity of living a life of wellness.Q: Do you feel inspired to Eat Better? If so, who or what inspires you?T: Nothing and no other person has inspired me to eat better beside myself. It’s just important. I grew up eating the most horrible food and when I hear that my doctor had concerns about my health at only the age of 20, that’s when it hit me. That inspired me. Eating better should be for you!Make sure to follow our friend Taylor on Instagram @tinyplantlady for coolest home decor and good energy photos!
